Digitalizing Piping Construction: 3 Expert Tips

We asked Markus Mook, Head of Construction Materials at thyssenkrupp Uhde GmbH, what tips he has for colleagues who are now tackling or optimizing the digitization of their projects!

Digitalizing Piping Construction: Are you considering replacing an in-house development or another existing solution with a platform like Insite LMS? We asked Markus Mook, Head of Construction Materials at thyssenkrupp Uhde GmbH, what tips he has for colleagues who are now tackling or optimizing the digitization of their projects!

» Tip 1: Question the existing – and improve. «

Markus Mook: A system replacement or introduction should absolutely be used to rethink the existing – and not just to replace it 1:1. Why? Just because something is currently the way it is, this doesn‘t mean that it is ideal. It is therefore essential to question how existing processes can be optimized in the course of digitization and to implement these improvements. In general, it is important that the selected system supports and improves the company‘s own processes and can react flexibly to changes.

» Tip 2: Don‘t accept source systems as process drivers. «

Markus Mook: Sometimes the data situation drives you in a direction you don‘t want to go. In my experience, you can‘t accept that unquestioningly. Examine what opportunities there are to influence this. This is particularly useful when introducing a new solution.

» Tip 3: Consciously choose customization and modules. «

Markus Mook: Those who, like us, use the Insite LMS platform for the digitization of construction site management, have access to numerous modules and customization options. My experience is: Many roads lead to Rome – you can implement many things in Insite LMS in different ways. Of course, the further you are in the roll-out, the harder it is to reverse a choice. In case of doubt, simply consult INSITE IT or exchange experiences with other INSITE IT customers.
